It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to a labor warrior, a leader, and our dear friend Dean Murakami.
Please keep his wife Patricia and all those who loved Dean in your thoughts.
His passing is a big loss for Labor and our community.
The labor movement is stronger because of his contributions and owes Dean a debt of gratitude for his tireless work helping working people and students through his years of leadership and activism.
Dean served as President of the Los Rios College Federation of Teachers as well as Interim President and Vice President of the Sacramento Central Labor Council.
His steady, fair, firm, solid, gentle, kind, level-headed, direct leadership is the exemplar by which we should all strive to achieve.
Please join us for a toast tonight at 5:30pm via zoom to honor the passing of our dearly departed brother. May he rest in power.
