Repaying our Veterans for their Service
The AFL-CIO honors and respects those who serve our country in the military. We vow to honor our veterans every day, and we invite them to share the knowledge and skills they learned during their service years with us. We encourage all military veterans to join a union! On Veterans Day Weekend, we pay special homage to our vets with a weekend full of volunteer service projects that benefit veteran's groups and associations.
Last year (See pics below) we had over 70 Organized Labor Volunteers join us in our Veteran’s Day festivities at the VFW Post 67 on Stockton Boulevard, as we undertook the process of repainting their very large assembly hall! This year we will need lots of volunteers as we take on projects at 2 different Veterans facilities on Saturday November 11th.
Can you organize a team of your fellow Union Members to help us honor our Region’s Veterans by assisting with numerous tasks at these two facilities?
Both of these Veterans Day Weekend Volunteer Projects are in the North area of town, and with enough volunteers, we should make quick work of all the projects we hope to complete by each day’s end!
2 Projects to choose from:
Saturday, November 11th 8:00am
Veterans Community Center – 6921 Sylvan Road, Citrus Heights.
Numerous projects from building a front porch, painting(inside & outside), welding handrails, installing an oven hood, install door frame, hang some sheet rock in kitchen, etc…
Sunday, November 12th 8:00am
VFW Post 4647 – 3300 U Street, Antelope.
This facility needs its parking lot re-striped, and an office painted
WE NEED YOUR LOCAL UNION VOLUNTEERS! Will you organize a team of your fellow Union Brother’s, Sister’s & Veteran’s to assist us on Saturday, November 11th?
If you have further questions, or would like to RSVP for one of these great projects, please contact Greg Larkins at (916) 208-4734
Thank you for your past support of our Veterans Day Weekend festivities, and we look forward to your Local Unions participation again this year!
