Legislation

Partnering with the California Labor Federation and our affiliate unions, each year the Sacramento CLC works on numerous pieces of local and statewide legislation, building power for both unionized and non-unionized workers. For more information click here:

Labor 101

The Sacramento Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO conducts a “Labor 101 Academy” every year to provide all those interested an opportunity to learn more about issues affecting workers and our Unions presented by a variety of Union leaders. This is a FREE event and open to the public. Any candidate seeking our endorsement must attend our Labor 101 Academy at least once in their political careers in order to be considered for an endorsement. Candidates

Slate Piece-2.png

Each election year, the Sacramento CLC's affiliates spend hundreds of hours vetting and interviewing candidates for elected office from all levels of government within our 6-county territory. As the first step, any candidate seeking our endorsement must attend our Labor 101 Academy at least once in their political careers in order to be considered for an endorsement.

We then ask candidates to fill out our questionnaire and schedule them for an interview. Our Committee On Political Education (C.O.P.E.) conducts 30 minute interviews for each candidate and makes recommendations for endorsement to our Executive Board and finally to our full body of Delegates.
